Today’s post is brought to you from one of my favorite bloggers, turned best friends! I’m sure you already know Sarah, but if you don’t she’s fabulous! I found her at Three Boys where she shares incredible furniture restorations and other great household tips! She recently founded her own Sarah Finks domain where she shares her passion for transforming women’s lives! And as my life coach, she has definitely transformed mine! You can find her in one spot on facebook to keep up with all she has going on!
I am a huge advocate of using cloth dish towels as much as possible. Paper towels are wasteful, expensive, and terrible for our environment. Paper is however VERY convenient. We do have a roll of paper towels in our kitchen but we go through about 1 roll every 2 months, maybe less. How does this happen with 3 small boys? CLOTH DISH TOWELS!!! I store them in the cabinet right next to the sink in a basket. This way I always have one on hand. I use about 3 a day when all is said and done. Then in the evening after I have cleaned up the kitchen I just throw them into the laundry.
20 Clean Dish Towels: Can you spot them?
Do you need a closer look? Did you find them?
Tada! Clean Dish Towels!
The other thing I LOVE about this system is I don’t have to spend much time folding or arranging the towels so that they look nice. PERFECT for a busy household! All of my requirements are met. Its organized, easy on the environment, and easy on me!
If you use a lot of paper towels try the recycled brands! Seventh Generation is great and available at most grocery stores and Amazon.

Wow. So I already use a cute basket like that inside a cabinet in the kitchen for our dog’s medications and grooming tools, but I was having a hard time deciding where to put all my clean dish towels! Unbelievable. So simple! This post definitely was a palm-to-face moment for me. Thank you for making me see the light!
I had the problem of my kitchen towels always ending up laying on the counter or even the floor, most likely placed there by one of my 4 children or husband
So being the seamstress that I am, I made Hanging Towels, and then will never again be shamed to the floor
Check them out on my website!
What a great idea! I do use towels more than paper towel but I will definitely implement the cute, out of sight, basket!! Thanks!
I throw those all tiny, cute, “have-to-have” baby wash rags in a drawer in my kitchen (with my cloth bibs) so they are right there to wipe my messy tot down after he eats. I also use them to wipe the table and counter now, too. I find they are even MORE economical because they are smaller than dishrags so you can use several in a day for the same “space” in your laundry as ONE regular dishrag.
I stopped using paper towels for almost everything a couple of years ago. I wish I had cabinet space to put mine to the right of the sink. Mine are underneath our sink in a plastic drawer, so not the easiest to get out. I might need to switch to a big basket under the sink.
